Genre Gordon Korman's early books were generally humorous. In 2001, he made the move from comedy to adventure when he published the Island trilogy (scholastic.com). Although this was a challenging move, the trilogy was a success. Korman then followed with the highly successful Everest and Dive trilogies (scholastic.com). Most of Korman's recent writings are as series sets. Recently, Korman collaborated with six authors to create The 39 Clues.
This series, with individual books written by Rick Riordan, Korman,
Peter Lerangis, Jude Watson, Patrick Carman, Linda Sue Park, and
Margaret Peterson Haddix, chronicles the Cahill family's quest for the
39 Clues that basically lead to control of the world. Keith Staskiewicz
of Entertainment Weekly conducted an extremely informative interview
with all seven authors. Click here to read the interview. In this video, Korman discusses The 39 Clues and how he got his ideas for One False Note (2nd book in the series).
